Riddle me this, Batman. Who’s the knitter/crocheter on the crew for, Zack & Miri Make a Porno? Because let me tell you, the movie is a veritable “I Spy” delight for the yarn fan. Stars Seth Rogan (Zack) and Elizabeth Banks (Miri) were rarely not sporting Feather & Fan, Garter Stitch scrap, and novelty crochet scarves; floral ponchettes; chunky, fair isle toboggans and be-pompomed hats.
The flick itself is funny but I should mention, a hard “R”. If you’re under-age or easily offended (or made uncomfortable) you should probably skip it. Lest you have to then miss out on the yarn goodness of Zack & Miri however, I’ve created a pictorial–a knitwear storyboard, if you will–of some of pieces worn in the film. Wardrobe department, this tribute’s for you!
Thanks to Dave who’s a big enough fan of Seth Rogan’s to stand in a 2-hour line last night for a SXSW screening of his new movie (Observe and Report), but still didn’t get (too) annoyed by the number of times I had him pause the Z&M Blu-ray so I could take pictures. You are the wind beneath my knitted, fan-girl wings.
Now, carry on with your regularly scheduled programming.
Ooo. I quite like the long, slightly messy looking scarf in the last large picture.

Thank you for mentioning this!!! I watched this movie twice and I also spotted some awesome knitwear. I kept telling my boyfriend throughout the movie, “I can totally make that”, or “I love her hat”, or “I AM totally going to make that hat!!” My favorite part is that it’s all displayed on the back of the door. I was actually wondering if you’d mention this movie since you’ve mentioned others with far less great knits!
yay! another great reason too see the hilarious looking film.
these knits look really beautiful. I recently watched Fargo again and boy, the sweaters and accessories in that film! yikes!!!

Vicki – How funny, I just watched this movie LAST NIGHT for the first time. I, too, took note of all the knitwear…I think Miri even mentions trading something with the gal at the yarn shop….possibly for her fun Reunion clothes?
It’s hard to believe it’s already been almost a year since Vickie’s Wednesday’s Snood pattern came out. We’re excited, though, to be able to revisit it with our new kits! Snap to it! (Link in bio, or go to YarnYAY.com)...
I am devastated by the loss of @hillcountryweavers founder, Suzanne Middlebrooks.
I wrote a longer tribute to her on my blog and Facebook (links in bio). In short, though, she had been sick for a long time but had been a master at not letting the illness get in the way of her living. So, it was often unimaginable that she wouldn't be with us for longer. Last June during an industry convention in Chicago when Susanne came over to the bar booth I was sitting at and plopped herself next to me to chat, I had no idea that it would be the last time I'd get to see her. I'm so thankful though, that when we parted ways to go back to our respective meetings, it was with a hug. Rest in purls, my friend....
When I came across this Knitting Needle Patent greeting card by @patentpress , I couldn’t resist selecting it as one of the items for the YarnYAY! September box! (Link in @vickiehowell bio or got to YarnYAY.com)
What looks like part circular knitting needle, part Tunisian crochet hook is illustrated as the patent drawing for flexible knitting needles. This greeting card memorializes the creation of tools that we stitchers can now, not do without!...
The sample yarn for both palettes of this year’s 12 Days of YAY! Advent Box have arrived. I cannot wait for stitchers to open up a new color everyday!
I don’t want to spoil the shade surprises, but I can share just how much yarn we’re sending you this year — FIFTEEN mini hanks of beautifully hand dyed yarn, by two rad boss-lady dyers.
Historically, we have sold out of these so I’d you’re prone to FOMO, be sure to pre-order tour 12 Days of YAY!

Psst… I know who it is… but don’t know if she wants outed, or if she is all of it!
Cheryl: If you know how to contact her, as her! I’d love to credit her. 🙂
Thanks for the highlights! Better to see these than the movie for this non-Seth Rogen fan.
Kisses to your Dave. He rocks to the 10th power!
Enjoying the yarn-porn from this movie!
Oh my word…I watch for knit/crochet items in movies too. It’s just sad.
I particularly liked the pieces in the Nancy Drew, and the Kit American Girl movies.
Glad I’m not alone in this. I thought I was strange for doing it. 🙂

I believe Miri actually works in a yarn shop, no?
We went to see it in the theater and I drove my friends crazy with all the squees of delight at the knitting and crochet work everywhere!!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. These pictures are just what I was looking for.

I would totally buy a Zack and Miri knits book.
LOL. That would be a tough sell to the publisher. Retailers tend to shy away from craft books associated with the word “porn”. 😉
