YarnYAY! June Box #50
It’s time for the reveal of our June box! This month also happens to mark our 50th box. As a Molly Shannon fan, I couldn’t resist taking this as an opportunity to spoof one of my favorite of her characters, Sally O’Malley. This Box is 50! (Also, it’d be a shame to put to waste my one year as a community college theater major. 😉)
Ok, now without further, silly-ado, here’s what’s in this month’s YarnYAY! box.
Little Miss Prissy | Chicken Coop Dyeworks
This beautiful sport-weight yarn is 50% silk/50% merino, producing a beautiful draping fabric with a slight sheen. Our featured color is Prom Dress, which totally coincidentally matched Vickie’s own prom dress (pictured below with her brother)!
Chicken Coop Dyeworks is a Texas-based BIPOC woman-owned business.
Post Your Prom Pics Contest!
In honor of our featured shade, Prom Dress we’re running a fun contest for the month of June. Post a picture of you in your prom regalia, on Facebook, Instagram, or our private YarnYAY! Facebook Group, and you’ll be entered to win one of two yarn bundles from Chicken Coop Dyeworks. Tag @vickiehowell #yarnyay by June 30, 2022 at 11:59CT to be eligible!
Centerpiece Table Mat & Coaster Patterns | Designs by Vickie Howell & Designer in Residence, Julia Madill
This month’s projects center around table decor. We’re making center-out, circular table mats or coasters! The knit versions, designed by Julia, are worked in pie-like increase sections of stockinette and lace and finished with a loopy edging.
The crochet mats/coasters designed by Vickie, alternate between lace and double-crochet rounds, finished off with kitschy-cute ball fringe!
This month concludes Julia’s run as our Spring/Summer Designer in Residence. Be sure to continue to follow and support her though, on Instagram: @juliamadill
Oh Snap Bag | Della Q + YarnYAY!
We teamed up again with our friends over at Della Q to bring you a custom color of their Oh Snap bags, finished with snap openings for yarn to pull through while you make a small project
Della Q is owned by Jimmy Beans Wool’s Laura Zanders!
Spray Bottle | YarnYAY!
Put a happy attitude into blocking your projects with our Yay! It, Don’t Spray It spray bottles!
Help! I can’t seem to get the beginning right in knitting in the round starting with only 8 stitches. I can knit in the round with more stitches but just can’t get the 8 going on 3-2-3 . Any suggestions?
Hey there, Judy. The designer, Julia Madill, created a video tutorial for this pattern. You can find it here. HTH! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmhAll-nPyQ
