In Eco-Stitch news: Our source for newpaper yarn fell through and we’re not having any luck finding a new one. If you or anyone else makes it, please post here and let me know. We need very little yardage for the small project we’re using it for, but time is running out. Thanks in advance! Ok, moving on…
The editor’s of Crochet Today! magazine came to me with a very specific request for a chevron poncho based on a sketch they generated and yarn they wanted used. The result, is featured in the Sept./Fall ’08 issue, on sale now! It’s a little bit country, and little bit rock n’ roll. 😉

Prairie Poncho Modeled
The issue itself is seriously Southwestern–and oddly enough, when I recently interviewed Etsy’s Matt Stinchcomb for an upcoming CRL podcast, he kept mentioning crochet cacti–and wouldn’t you know it, there’s a cutie-pie pattern for them in the mag! Somebody’s getting insider info. 😉
Ok, I’m going to the couch to crochet with grocery bags and wallow in self-pity over the writer’s block I’m having. Have a great weekend!
Diandra–Yeah, that’s who was originally making it for us, but she got busy with school. Just heard back from her again though, and it looks like she can get it done, now. Yay!
Anonymous–Yup, we’re actually using one of their paper yarns for a different project. The newspaper yarn though, is made out of actual, recycled papers. 🙂
Diva–Go for it! It’s not difficult at all–you can do it!
Kimt: You SO just called me out! 😉 I actually have only had a chance to produce the 1st episode of season 2. Catching up on CRL is on the to-do list though, I promise!
Hay, I am such a huge fan of yours I have been crocheting since I was a little girl and have only just offically opend my small business, I hope I someday have as much sucess au you. Fantastic site!
hi vickie – when do you need the newspaper yarn by? i could maybe do this in the next week – i took class in spinning paper last spring – (another really cool repurpose we learned was spinning sewing pattern paper ) let me know!

Dear community,
The majority share of the knitting, crochet, and crafts industries, and the community that supports them, are women and non-binary folk with uteruses. After yesterday's devastating supreme court decision, essentially removing women's constitutional rights over our own bodies, need to support one another. We need to love each other enough to not give up. I see you. My heart is with you.
Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to be on a Zoom action-meeting run by a major women's healthcare organization. We feel powerless, but one of the suggestions they gave for things we can do is to donate to grass-root organizations that focus on women's healthcare clinics.

Love the poncho! The colors are perfect for fall. 😀
Love the poncho! BTW, I am having problems with the podcast. I can only listen to the first episode. Is it just me and my computer?
Very nice job on the poncho! I love the fall feel.
