HGTV Update

Hey all. Some of you have e-mailed about HGTV’s change in programming, so I wanted to give you the scoop. As I think I mentioned before, HGTV was experimenting with having craft programming on their network by airing Knitty Gritty, Uncommon Threads, Craft Lab, B. Original, Scrap Booking and Creative Juices, temporarily. It appears that as of Feb 19th, their 3-hour a day craft block will no longer exists. I encourage you to write HGTV to express your desire to continue seeing our brand of creative programming on their network (and of course, call your cable provider to pester them to put DIY on the base backage of cable). FYI, your letters totally help. The proof being that until Feb. 16th, they’re airing new episodes of Knitty Gritty daily and after Feb. 16th you’ll STILL be able to watch the show MFW mornings at 7am (I know. Early. Just set your Tivos ;-))! Uncommon Threads will be airing at the same time on T&TH.

Ok, I have all kinds of things to post about but I’m running out now.

More later!,
Vickie

  1. Joi, who else?

    Hi Vickie,
I just wanted to let you know that I found you by accident last month and I have been hooked ever since. My 9 yo daughter started learning how to knit from a friend and it made my mom and me pick up our needles and start again. So now all of us girls are knitting cool things.
My daughter has made head bands and necklaces and she is now working on a square for the charity project.
I made 2 squares and a cozy for my cell phone. I also made a scarf and am in the middle of a scarf turned shrug for my daughter. I am also now doing squares for my neighbor’s baby blanket, (baby due 23 Feb).
I Tivo your show everyday and transfer them to DVD so I will always have reference to all of your great ideas and guests and knit bits.
Thank you for helping put the cool into knitting.

I just wanted to let you and HGTV as well as DIY that I love your show! I record it everyday just so I can sit down in my spare time (what’s that?!) and enjoy it while I knit. I’m a beginner, but I love to see all the projects that you have on the show, even the advanced stuff that blows my mind. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK and I hope to continue to watch you on HGTV and wish that DIY was on the basic DISH package.

I love your show and am trying to collect all episodes. But, I have noticed that my DVR is capturing re-run after re-run. 🙁 How can I find out when the episodes I am looking for will be playing?

deb, if you go to HGTV.com or DIYnet.com (whichever channel you catch her show on), you can find a calendar of the shows and what episode will be airing.

    hope that helps!

I’ll send yet another email to HGTV.

Where can I purchase your new yarns? I absolutely *love* the Gwen yarn from Rock. It wouldn’t happen to be available anywhere near MS or AL, would it?

Joi–I’m thrilled you all are knitting–I love hearing that! Thanks for writing. 🙂

    Sarah–Thanks!

Deb–New episodes are running on HGTV every day through the 16th. New episodes on DIY being in the spring. HTH!

Pipp- I hear ya! I know how frustrating it is that DIY is harder to get. We’re working on changing that, though!

Kat–You can buy the yarn online at WEBS (www.yarn.com). There’s also a list of retailers here: http://www.soysilk.com/vickieyarn.html

    Carmen–Awww, that’s awesome. I’m so glad!

    xo,
    Vickie

  10. Angela :o)

    Dear Vickie,
I also wrote HGTV asking to keep the block of programming. I’m not in a Tivo house, so it looks like I’ll be getting up OHMYGOSH early. *grin*

I do have another question for you. (actually two) 1. Does DIY have any plans to release your show on DVD? *crosses fingers* and 2. Are you planning on coming to to Vegas (to promote your book) soon? I’d love to shake your hand!

Take care and be well. Love, Angela

    Hey Vicki:
I recently taught myself to knit and crochet and I LOVE KNITTY GRITTY and very upset with the new line up on HGTV. Your show and the other craft shows are the best that they had. I will send them a complaint on there “new” line up.
