Announcing… the Vickie Howell Collection!

I’m thrilled to announce that I have joined forces with the innovative & incomparable SWTC (Southwest Trading Company) to create The Vickie Howell Collection! In January at both TNNA and CHA, we will preview CRAFT, ROCK & LOVE, my 3 new yarns that will be available in stores and on-line in Spring 2007. **insert happy dance followed by grand, dramatic curtsey**

I don’t have pictures available of the actual yarn but here’s the scoop on what you can expect:

CRAFT is 35% Milk Fiber and 65% Organic Cotton.
Let me tell you, I’m not normally a fan of cotton blends but HOLY CREAMY GOODNESS, people–this yarn is super soft and dare I say, delightful?! We’ve chosen, vibrant colors in retro-chic gradient shades that will all be named after some of my favorite crafty peeps including: Members of the Austin Craft Mafia, Martha (well, duh), Kathy (aka Crafty Chica, and Libby (my mom).

ROCK is 40% SOYSILK/ 30% fine wool/ 30% HEMP.
Smooth, strong and awesome to work with. This one is what I like to call a yarn staple, because it’s great for any number of versatile, quick, kick-ass projects. The colors will all be extra bold and named after rock stars like: Gwen (Red), Kim & Kelley (Turquoise), Dave (Purple) and Billy Joe (Green). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: knitting rocks!

LOVE is 70% Bamboo /30% Silk .
This one classes up the proverbial joint. It’s so beautiful and luxurious that you won’t want to put it down…ever. Seriously, I’m in love with LOVE! The colors are a mix of elegant variegated colors and complimentary solids all named after movie couples like: Harold & Maude, Buttercup & Roberts, Peter & Mary Jane and Ennis & Jack.

I’m hard at work creating designs for the new yarn that we will be putting into a small booklet that will also be available at your LYS. Look for garments and accessories for the busy knitter with an emphasis on quick and simple in both Knit and Crochet!

I’ll post more info as I get it but in the meantime, I’ll *heart* you forever and always if you spread the word that there’ll soon be a new yarn in town!

Knitlicious Kisses,
Vickie

Woot, I am so freaking glad to see that they will be made out of soysilk, organic cotton, bamboo, and the like – planet-friendly stuff rocks!

Wow! those yarns sound awesome! I have had the pleasure to test knit a couple of items for SWTC and their yarns are fantastic!

Love seems to be perfect for this skirt pattern I just got. I believe the silk will give it the perfect drape and the bamboo will help stabilize and maintain the skirt shape. I love it! Can hardly wait.

For sure, I will spread the word to my LYS about this new line of yarns :).

  4. Bevin

Vickie, it’s Bevin, from the yarn bus!

What a heavy responsibility, your own line of yarn! They sound amazing!

Since SWTC is totally a staple brand at my favorite LYS, Flying Fingers, I will be sure to go fondle the new yarns and decide which will make my next awesome project.

Did you hear the yarn bus got hit by a tornado?

Also, I am going to be in Austin in 2 weeks (weekend of Oct 19-22, for the international drag king extravaganza–http://www.idkeaustin.com/, I will be performing Saturday night). What is not to be missed about Austin in terms of crafting and yarning and cool people?

    xoxoxo,

What exciting news! I can totally picture you doing the happy dance. 🙂 Can’t wait to try these out, especially the Love. I’m working on a Mariposa shawl now in Bamboo and LOVE the feel of the yarn and the drape it has. THe addition of silk to the bamboo fiber will truly be a luxury! 🙂

Oh how COOL is THAT!!! I will be begging my LYS to get some. I adore Bamboo and have been itching to try and find some bamboo, what I have found on the net has been less than desireable for me in the color theory 🙁 I can’t wait to see your zippin’ bitchin’ yarns and colors!! Woot Woot, you rock!
