Single Color Brioche Stitch

Ask Me Monday: Single Color Brioche Stitch

Single Color Brioche Stitch

This week on Ask Me Monday, I show how to knit single color Brioche Stitch. This easy, textural stitch creates a squishy, cozy fabric, even out of lighter weight yarns.

Watch the episode, practice the technique by following the Swatch instructions below, then put your skills to work by casting on for a simple brioche project like the Brioche & Buttons cowl featured in the January YarnYAY! box. Have fun!

Directions:

CO 20 sts.

Pro Tip: The way that the Brioche Stitch sequence is written can be confusing. Although it looks like he instructions are asking you to slip a stitch, then bring the yarn forward  to yarn-over, the opposite is actually correct. Begin with your yarn in front, slip one stitch, then complete the yarn-over.

Set Up Row: *Sl1yo, k1; rep from * to end.

Can you tell me the alternate patterns you suggested for this month’s yarn. Not sure I need a cowl. Thanks.
