Greetings from Anaheim, CA! I’m getting ready to head out for a day of meetings in demos but wanted to share with you some pictures from yesterday at CHA (Crafts & Hobbies Association convention). Enjoy!
With Kathy Cano-Murillo, at the Duncan Craft booth where she’s promoting her line Crafty Chica.
Promo poster in the Sterling/Lark Publishing booth for my May ’09 book, Pop Goes Crochet.
With scrapbooking queen, Sandi Genovese.
Drew and I teaching how to crochet beer cozies & bangles, at the Sterling/Lark booth.
A student posing with her finished bangle.
Sterling publicist Leigh-Ann Ambrosi, making a bangle.
Leigh-Ann pleased as punch that she learned how to crochet.
I snuck out of the convention for a bit to avoid the Paris Hilton appearance (to promote her craft line) craziness, and do a little in-hotel crafting for Tuesday’s Tulip paint demo.
Creative Juice’s Steve Piacenza & Cathile Filian working at the Plaid booth. They’re Mod Podge’s national spokes people!
With Knitty Gritty seasons 7 & 8’s supervising producer, Kelly Erlich.
With Cathie Filian and Drew Emborsky (aka The Crochet Dude) at our publisher’s party.
Publisher/author dinner at Buca Di Beppo in Anaheim.
Ok, off to Day 2 of CHA. Check back here (RH column) for Twitter updates, throughout the convention!

#tbt October 2019. That time when @madebylondon and I both had @abramsbooks published at the same time, and crocheted murals of our covers to take on tour.
#latergram Sure, we’re all knitters and crocheters over on Stitchwell Social Club, but those aren’t our only topics we delve into as a community. The first discussion of our Feminist Book Club — moderated by member Mylynka, a history and gender studies professor — focused on the 17th—century fuel behind the Witches of Scotland timely, modern-day movement. I can’t wait for the next one!
This book club is accessible through all levels, including the free plan, of Stitchwell Social Club membership. Join us today through the link in my bio, or by going to http://www. vickiehowell.com/stitchwellsocialclub 💃🏽
#2008 Once upon a time, @lifetimetv hired me to design and host video tutorials for a few, holiday-specific craft projects that ran on their website. These photos are from the shoot — our then home — for the Halloween-project episode.
I credit digital media for much of my ongoing career, but my heart with always be handmade and in print. From my hands to yours, I’d love to snail mail you a copy of my new monthly publication, 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗲 — the printed companion piece to the supportive, engaged and inspiring community and (virtual) event space, Stitchwell Social Club. This zine is printed as a limited run based on monthly membership numbers. 𝗧𝗼 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲, 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴𝘁𝗵. (Subscribers later in the month will get them on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.) As always, thanks for supporting this independent creative-type. It’s y’all and me against the lack-of-personal-connection world!
