help!!!
i love this hat and and decided to make it for the bf for his bday. i noticed that the directions printed in knit.1 are different than the ones you posted in your blog. it seems that your directions will make a larger hat. he’s a big guy, so i’m proceeding with your directions. any advice?
thanks!
Throughout the pattern there are funny symbols where the ” symbol and something else should be. Can you send me via email or otherwise a version with the real info?
Also this is the perfect item. Exactly what my 14yr had wanted.
It looks a little stretched out at the bottom, can you reccomend a way to make it more snug? My son has a smallish head.
Jenny, Web girl here. I think I found and fixed all the funky symbols. They were quotation marks gone bad.
Vickie says that the hat is not really stretched out – during the shoot the stylists just randomly decided to flip up the back.
Hope that helps!
Thanks Jenny for answering this for me. 🙂
Cheryl, if you’re still worried that the cap will be too loose you can try double-stranding your yarn with some elastic thread. That should do the trick! –Vickie
I’ve been looking for a pattern like this for weeks!!! Thanks!! One thing though…… where would I find the template for the brim? Thanks again
Bonnie
Thanks for the great pattern. I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. I was wondering, though, where to find the template for the brim.
Thanks again,
Bonnie
Great pattern–just what my brother wanted for Christmas. I just started working on the front but am a little confused. The pattern says to P1, K1, then work in 2×2 to end after starting the previous row with K2tog & P2tog. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but is this backwards? If you reverse it and start the row in 2×2 then end with P1 K1 then you are purling over the k2tog and knitting the p2tog. And does continue in this manner mean to continue decreasing, or to continue in 2×2? Sorry to be so daft!
The pattern is great, but the template for the brim insert isn’t there. Could you please post it?’
Jo Hoo
Bonnie- The template’s now up on the post. Sorry about that! –Vickie
PJE, you’re not the only one who’s confused! I started knitting the front and wound up with a triangular piece of knitting, which I didn’t think could be right.
Vickey, the pattern is lovely, but I’m also a little confused about the front piece. Could I impose on you to clear this up for PJE and me?
Vicki! Hi! I just wanted to say, since I couldn’t find a brim hat pattern, I had made up a similar brim hat out of crochet, but I had just made two brim halves and crochetted a finished edge look for a more sturdy feel. After I read about the plastic canvas, I thot WOW! I don’t have to use cardboard either! I love your show! Keep up the Excellent work!! -Nellie
Hey, guys. I realized that I had the unedited version of this pattern up all of this time. Nice. Sorry about that, but it should be all good now. xo, Vic
love the hat, but would love to be able to print the pattern. Any suggestions?
ET
I love this hat.. I decided to knit one for all the guys in my family for Christmas this year. I know they’ll all love it!!
I must say, I’m with pje and Iliana on this. Vickie, can you please post a modification to clarify the front part of the hat? I’m well into the project and feel as though I’m afraid to continue without some clarification. Just as pje put it, “The pattern says to P1, K1, then work in 2×2 to end after starting the previous row with K2tog & P2tog…. is this backwards? If you reverse it and start the row in 2×2 then end with P1 K1 then you are purling over the k2tog and knitting the p2tog.” and what does “continue in this manner” refer to? The previous 2 rows? Just the previous row, or just the 2×2 ribbing?? Do you understand what we’re missing? Can you please help us with this? It’s a lovely pattern and I would love to complete it. Thanks in advance for your assistance, Vickie!
