This morning I dropped off my two eldest kiddos for the first day of school (I officially have TWO middle schoolers now! *gulp*), so it seems like an appropriate time for me to encourage you readers to get back to class, too! Starting in September, I’m kicking off “crafting season” by launching a new class offered nationwide! I’m excited to have teamed up with Bernat and Jo-ann to create a class based on my designs, tips and instructions, and taught by talented teachers in Jo-ann Stores across the U.S.
Vickie Howell for Bernat: Quick Crochet Gifts will teach you how to crochet a puff stitch, then incorporate it into a scarf, cowl or headband in any of three different weights and textures of yarns. This will mean that once you learn the skill, you’ll be able to churn out those holiday gifts quickly and easily, but without any two of them looking the same (unless of course, you want them too!) Here’s a quick video in which I explain a little more:
Just because we’re all extraordinarily busy, doesn’t mean we have to opt out of handmade gift giving. The trick to success (without insanity) is being smart about the projects you choose.
Next time you’re at Jo-ann, just ask for a class catalogue. Dates and times will vary based on location.
Oh, and as always, don’t forget to tag @vickiehowell on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram if you post pictures of your finished projects from this class or any of my patterns and projects.
Dear YarnYAY! Community & Supporters,

Five and a half years ago, this business essentially fell into my lap. I was just wrapping a tour promoting the launch of The Knit Show, and in the middle of writing my 13th book, The Knit Vibe when an executive from CrateJoy approached me about co-founding a subscription box for knitters. The arm of their company that ran subscription box businesses with creators and entrepreneurs who already had a following would handle the capital, fulfillment, customer service and sourcing. I would be in charge of project design, pattern writing, product curation, marketing, media content, and anything else creative. I had longtime been wanting to add a retail aspect to my overall offerings, but with a very full plate hadn’t yet figured out a viable, responsible way to do that. This seemed ideal.

Second only to the #dollyparton costume exhibit, a highlight of our trip to Nashville was a tour of @hatchshowprint . I wanted to move in! *sigh* Block printing is dreamy. 😍...
Ok, reposting the December Unboxing, because it looks like I chose the wrong posting option last time, so only 90 seconds came through. The vid’s 7 minutes, so hopefully this time it works! (It’s posted in full on my Facebook page, YouTube, and YarnYAY.com, too.) Thanks for your patience!...
