Robyn Chachula’s Crochet Stitches: Visual Encyclopedia
Stitch patterns are to knit & crochet wear designers, are what fabric is to traditional fashion designers. The repeats that create the open-weave of mesh, dips and pulls of a spike, the bunches of bobbles–the directions and math involved to obtain these effects are the gateway to any garment’s drape and design. Whether we “plug-and-play” a stitch pattern into our own concept (think: using an existing fabric to cut and sew into an original garment), or simply use the information as a jumping-off point (think: heavily tweaking a graphic to use as the print on your own fabric design), stitch treasuries are an invaluable resource for designers. They’re like our bibles. For hobbiests, they offer an absolutely attainable blueprint to altering an existing project to make it their own.

*off to add to my book wish list…*
I love to drool over stitch guides, – especially the Japanese ones. This one looks as if it has to have a place in my crochet collection;-)
Ahhh, thanks for a beautiful post…written in such eloquent prose with stunning photography. I giggled in delight at this post. Of course, the subject matter intrigued me right from the title! I would sooo love to get my hands on a copy of this book. I simply can’t imagine life without it in my arsenal! I was particularly impressed with the double crochet group with Sheep(ish). Swoon!

Enjoying this book’s blog tour a lot!
I’ve listened to Robyn’s interviews during her blog tour and can’t wait to see the book in person. I love how she communicates her passion for crochet and how this book is a collection of so many stitch patterns she recommends.
