I Love to Create: Knit-Print Wrapping Paper
Recently on I Love to Create, I experimented with painting on knitwear. This got me to thinking; why not reverse the process and use the knitwear to paint with? It’s that time of year when we all need wrapping paper and customizing your own is simple to do and with this method, also a great way to recycle those swatches us knitters have stashed away in boxes.
Here’s the holiday how!
Brown, Craft Paper
Knitted or Crocheted Swatches
Little Chica Paint Pack (Which conveniently includes both Christmas AND Hanukkah colors!)
Sponge Brush
How-To
- Spread a thin layer of paint over your swatch. Press swatch face down, on your craft paper. Repeat until paper’s covered. Let dry.
- For a little extra razzle dazzle, add a layer of glitter paint by covering your swatch then pressing it down at random places over your paper.
wow, these look awesome. Might have to get some myself!
Great idea to make use of those swatches! I was thinking of framing some as decor for my craft room, but I may have to snag a few for this project!
Happy Holidays!
Another great idea, Vickie!
‘Was thinking on the topic of recycling swatches…stitch a few together and use them as the wrap itself! That way, recipient gets a placemat or a lil lap-quilt, etc. And, good news! If you use appropriate paint to stamp your wrapping paper, you can even use the painted swatches for BOTH ideas! Fold a painted swatch and stitch up for an iPod or cell phone cozy…the recycling possibilities are limitless!!! Thanks again to Vicky for keeping us inspired and brainstorming!!!
perfect for my Yarn Girls Christmas gifts! thanks.
It’s very very clever! Thank you for your job!
