Recently I spoke with the New York Times Best-Selling Author of You Are Bad-Ass, Jen Sincerco. She’s in the middle of a whirlwind book tour for her latest book, You Are a Bad-Ass at Making Money — including live appearances, major publication interviews, and an appearance on Dr. Oz — so I was thrilled that she made time to be on this podcast.
Jen and I talked about her road from struggling writer and musician to life-coach guru, the role that gratitude can play in success, why we as creative types are so reticent to embrace an openness to mastering wealth, and how Universal Intelligence provides all we need to know about flourishing to our fullest extent. I found Jen to be a candid, straight-shooter with a wealth of knowledge and life experience under her belt for which she doles out generously. I can use all the help I can get. Being a store owner has been a dream of mine. I just can’t make up my mind on what kind it will be (something crafty) I do knit – sew – cross stitch – and love vinyl records. where I live we have no music store to buy anything.
I have a plate in my kitchen that says “All I want is a chance to prove that money can’t buy happiness.” In all seriousness, I don’t believe it can buy happiness but it can buy opportunities.
I think mine is “I’ve never been a millionaire, but I know I’d be just DARLING at it.”

This is so good. I love this episode, and totally agree. My money mantra is “don’t let life happen to you.” This is directly tied to money, as so many times we say, “oh, my tires needed replacing so I can’t…” or “my water heater went out and put a dent in my budget…” and even “I’m always late” etc. I know, as an adult, life will throw curve balls, so knowing that, I am more than capable of giving myself some padding, some leeway. The little dramas don’t have to impact me, I impact my life alone. So, really, the little dramas are MY fault at the end of the day, because I know better. I know well enough. I know if I’m taking a risk what the calculations are for success and failure. This is not the same as a fear of failure. I don’t fear failure; it is a learning tool, and it cycles back to not letting it happen to me again, not letting life happen to me.
