Craft-ish Episode 9: Moogly’s Tamara Kelly
Show Notes:
On this episode of CRAFT-ish, Vickie talks with crochet designer & writer Tamara Kelly of Moogly about raising creative kids, running a craft-based business, and why she chose to go from mommy to crochet blogger.
The word “moogly” was coined by Tamara’s daughter when she was a toddler. She used it to describe anything wobbly, off kilter, silly, or teeter-tottery. When Tamara decided to start a mommy blog a few years later, the name Moogly was a natural fit! After a while she decided mommy blogging wasn’t right for her, but kept the blog around because she had a crochet pattern I’d written on there. Fast forward to 2011, when she decided to open a crochet and knit business, and Moogly got stripped down and relaunched to support her commission work! Eventually she realized design was where her heart was, and stopped taking commissions.
Moogly as you see it today is the work of one designer/writer/blogger, and that’s Tamara Kelly. Her husband Geoff helps out with most of the tech stuff, including all camera work and video editing. None of this would be possible without him! Together they raise their daughter and two sons in Iowa, USA. Moogly is an important part of supporting their family financially, and it’s a lot of fun too! Tamara enjoy interacting with all the amazing crafters she’s met through the site, and with your support, she hopes to continue to do so for a long time to come!
