NEW SHEEP(ish) PATTERN: Penny Arcade Jacket

My latest design in Sheep(ish) is available for free now on Bernat.com. For this one, I paired the wavy lines of the Arcade Stitch pattern with a clean, boxy cut to create a roomy, go-with-everything jacket. Penny Arcade can be dressed up by belting and pairing with a funky skirt or sleek pants. Make it casual by throwing it over a t-shirt and jeans. It works with anybody’s style really, and is the perfect garment to keep around when you want to cozy-up!

    How you start really I understand the basic concept but when it says to simply chain one are you meanining off of the foundation.chain.or just simply chain one and jump right in? Sorry I just love the jacket and I want to get it as right as I possibly can. If you are meaning off.of the foundation chain how many.do we chain?

    Kandace: So, here’s the gig: The foundation chain is only that first row of chain stitches. After that, when you need to chain 1 (I’m assuming this is on a single crochet row), it’s just to gain the height at the beginning of a row necessary to work single crochet stitches across the rest of the row. In other words, a ch1 is the same height as a sc.

    thank you for the pattern, can’t wait to start it. I dont see a foundation chain row start? How do i start it? and also the arcade stitch says 6 plus 1. where does that come from?

    Just love this! I am working on the armholes (back of jacket) and I am not sure about when it says repeat pattern? Do I go back to the arcade pattern or just keep repeating row two? My stitches aren’t matching up.

    Yes. Whenever you crochet you always start with a foundation chain. In this case it’s the ch number suggested in the pattern based on the size you’re making. Hope that helps! xx, V

      im making this jacket i have completed back side but im stuck at shaping arm hole row 8…it says repeat rows 4-6……this is nt making any sense to me
      row 4: Ch 1, sk first 2 sts, sc in next 3 dc, *ch 3, sk next 3 sts, sc in next 3
      dc; repeat from * across to last 3 sts, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, sc in last sc, turn.

      row 6: Ch 1, sk first 3 sts, sc in next 3 dc, ch 3, sk next 3 sts, *sc in next
      3 dc, ch 3, sk next 3 sts; repeat from * across, sc in last dc, sc in top of
      beginning ch-3, turn—3 (4, 5, 6, 7, 8) pattern repeats.

      my question is how can ch3 sk next 3 ans sc in next 3dc if i dnt have dc as a base….
      is there any error or am i reading it wrong…………plz help badly stuck

    Ha! Not crazy, I’ve done that for people before. Alas though, my hair is in a dire state while my stylist is on maternity leave. Just tell your stylist that you want a shattered out bob. 🙂

    I must really be doing something wrong. Even using the smaller needle my 4 pattern repeat gauge is 8″. Using the larger needle I am getting 12″ for the 4 pattern repeat gauge. How on earth did you get 6.5″? Help.

    Just wondering what the sk means? Slip Knot? How do you ch3, sk 3? I’m looking specifically in the Arcade stitch. On the reduced sample on the pattern it doesn’t show the sk. Thanks!
