The Interactive Age

So apparently, instead of actually communicating directly, families now hear about each other’s major life events via blogs or MySpace. Yesterday I got a comment posted on the latter by my cousin’s wife (who I didn’t even know had a page on the grand MS) congratulating me on our engagement. I immmediately went to her page to post a reply and discovered that she’s pregnant! Ahhh, the Internet age. Speaking of going interactive, will you be?

Are you among the many thousands descending upon Austin to attend SXSW? Then be sure to come see me and Jenny Hart (Sublime Stitching) wax like experts or something on the Boss Lady Panel. Alex Beauchamp of Girl at Play will be there too!

What: Boss Lady Panel at SXSWi w/ Jenny Hart and Vickie Howell

Where: Austin Convention Center, Room 10AB

When: Saturday, March 10th 5 – 6 pm

The panel is moderated by Lauren Bacon and Emira Mears of BossLady.ca

    Hi, Vickie!

Yes, the internet (blogs/myspace) has really opened the door for families to communicate. I also like the personal expression I can do where I can’t always express myself in person.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

So, I’m sitting in my hotel room, reading over Saturday’s panels and I see your name! I run over to the laptop and come here to see you’ve posted about it. My work sent me… I hope I get a chance to see you!

I’ll try to email… but if I can’t, you can write me stephen [at] hizknits [dot] com. I’d love to buy you AND your fiance a drink! Congrats!

Wow! I need to catch up on blogs way more often than once every two weeks. I missed you in Chicago (and oh yeah, there is waaaaaay more than Oprah and Obama here. Promise!) because I was a freakin day late reading…and now…you are engaged! Woot!
