This week Vickie talks with crochet designer, foodie fashion maven, YouTuber, and creative entrepreneur, Twinkie Chan. They gab about going from a career as a literary agent to a well-branded face of her own company, the importance of embracing the things that make you different, and how we as creative types can give ourselves permission to take the next step — whatever that means for us personally.

Anything crafty soothes my soul. It can be as simple as cooking. People say, “But you love to cook.” I love the creative way I can make great food for myself. Then I wash my hands and pick up some yarn!

  2. Chandra Corn

Loved the episode, LOVE LOVE Twinkie Chan. I’ve been following her for years and adore her YouTube.
My favorite creative outlet when I’m stressed is drawing and knitting. Just making something really helps me center myself.

  3. Angela S.

Perfection, my two favorite crafters! I’m excited to make Twinkie’s Strawberry Shortcake Stand-Mixer cover; but, I intend to attempt all of her projects. I’m currently working on her chain link scarf (Youtube video)and just started your loom flower tissue cozy. I like having a couple of projects in the works at the same time to keep the creativity juices flowing. Thanks for the giveaway and craft on.

  4. Amberly

Twinkie Chan is one of the reasons I started crocheting, and her designs are just so fun! I love her giant donut from her new book, but the strawberry shortcake stand mixer cover is likely to be first on my list; what a cute addition to my kitchen!

  5. Rachel

Oh I know wasn’t even aware of this! Totally going to be watching all. Love Twinkie Chan. Been wanting to make that giant donut. I already have her first book. She is so inspiring.

  6. Rose Bassora

Oh man, her website video was so funny! When I saw the TV dinner tablet cozy, I belted out a laugh so loud I scared the dog!
I love Vickie’s interviews and I can’t wait to relisten to this one tonight. (I listen at work too)

I absolutely love your podcast–well really just about everything you do! Loved this interview with Twinkie. I’m excited to make giant donuts–much better for my waistline than the real ones I love!

  8. Janna Ford

Love Twinkie! I just got her first book on Kindle when I realized it was out of print, and when I get her new book I would love to make the donut floor poof and the gummy bear towel basket!

  9. Maxine

Most of the items seem too big, ambitious. I think I would start with the refrigerator magnets.

Twinkie Chan inspired me to re-start crocheting. I hope to win her second book.

  10. Mary Ann P.

I really enjoyed listening to Twinkie talk about her experience as both a crafter and as a businesswoman in the craft industry. She’s given me my cro-jo back after taking a long break from crocheting & I just fell in love with her foodie patterns. I really appreciated her message that it’s OK to be “weird” because later that will be what makes you special; more kids (and adults) need to hear that! I love the creativity that goes into all of her page layouts in her books & the positive things she puts out into the universe. I’m looking forward to making her cheeseburger tissue box cozy as a gift. 🙂

I love Twinkie, her patterns are so fun and cute! My next project is gonna be the Giant Donut Floor Pouf, I NEED that in my bedroom! lol

Okay, seriously? How delightful is your podcast, Vickie!? Thank you so much, Twinkie Chan and Vickie for your contributions to the world. The cookie banner…! Must make that right away. Thank you for the contest, too. I’ve signed up for notifications everywhere I wasn’t already signed up.

  13. Rachel Catherine

I really loved hearing this interview with Twinkie Chan. Her designs are very cute and she has traveled a much different route than the “average” crochet designer. There are so many patterns I would love to make from her new book, the Banana Split Throw Pillow is very striking and adorable.

  14. Annette

That donut! Ohemgee! I would love making that doughnut tuffet for my daughter who LOVES sprinkles!! By the way, you have a beautiful voice to listen to on the podcast – you do a great job!!
