I have always painted, usually functional art, but one summer, about four years ago I learned to knit. I found a flyer touting knitting lessons at the Public Library in a tiny town in South Georgia. I signed up and learned to knit from an ancient little lady. There were three of us, including her!…She only taught the knit stitch, but I perservered and found online sites to help me. I was in love! I wrote her a thank you note, telling her of my love of knitting before she died a year later. She wrote me back saying she was so blessed that she had finally taught someone who loved it as much as she did. It was another world! I found that my love of purses could include knitting them! I have since taught a knitting lesson to 15 of my Sister’s On The Fly friends…my little teacher would be proud.
I have recently taught myself to sew and love making aprons…that’s a whole ‘nother thing! I enjoy the learning process very much, no matter what it is…who knows what next?
