Ever since I can remember I have been crafting. My mom even called me “Meghan Craftmyer”, which I could not stand! I entered my first crafting fair when I was eight. I decided I wanted to make little 3″ straw hats filled with potpourri and gingerbread men made out of brown paper bags. The gingerbread men were filled with batting and actually sewn together on the sewing machine, and then finished off with pinking shears. They had little faces painted on and rope string glued on the back to hang them. It was a whole “folk art” thing. I can remember my mom enlisting the help of her friends. We sat around the neighbor’s dining room table, each person with a different job. We would do our little part and pass it down the line. I can’t remember how much I made at the fair, but the experience of everyone crafting and laughing as we made my gingerbread men is one of my favorite memories from my youth.

Now I make trinket boxes that vary greatly in size and theme. I’ve painted and beaded them in any fashion you can imagine. I’ve made them for sports teams, holidays, stars, stripes, 60′s, 70′s…literally anything you can throw at me. I usually make them to give as gifts, and people usually love them. It’s something different I guess.
