I didn’t learn to drive until I was 30. I was too afraid to learn. Once I learned to drive, I realized that I had been terrified to try new things for my whole life and I dove headfirst into new experiences. I tried my hand at being single. I learned to swing dance and to roller skate. I then spent 4 years skating as Kitty Kitty Bang Bang on the Hotrod Honeys as a member of the Texas Rollergirls. The Texas Rollergirls, based in Austin Texas, were the first flat track roller derby league in the US, founded in 2003. After I retired I was left with a lot of free time on my hands. I took a knitting class and took to knitting like a fish to water. I’ve been knitting for less than 2 years but have made sure to always approach new projects with fearlessness. I’m addicted to knitting – socks, sweaters, gloves, lace, anything!! And I have an enviable yarn stash. I formed a multi-craft group called Arts & Drafts that meets weekly at a local coffee shop/bar on Thursday night. We pride ourselves on welcoming new crafters and have taught many an unsuspected coffee shop patron to knit. These days I go by Knitty Knitty Bang Bang – it burns fewer calories and causes less bruises – but it is just as thrilling and  fulfilling!!
