I’ve always enjoyed making ‘stuff’ since I was very young – teddy bears, dolls clothes, you name it. I enjoyed art right up to the age of 16 when a teacher told me I couldn’t draw and promptly stopped doing so. I still continued with the knitting, sewing and crochet but lost something when I stopped drawing. At the ripe old age of 32 a friend invited me to join her informal art group and I discovered I could indeed produce a decent painting or drawing. Since then I’ve embarked on an exciting journey of discovery, finding out that art and craft is indeed good for the soul. I became friends with some fantastic artists and crafters who have shown me that besides painting on a canvas, you can stick on polystyrene balls, use glitter and collage – I’ m now an advocate of mixed media art. Spirit dolls have been a joy to make, they take on a personality of their own, there are several waiting to be produced! I have lots of new projects lined up such as felt-making, spinning and weaving on a small loom. Hopefully I will keep up this lifelong learning, but always be authentic at the same time; that’s very important. Creativity is my passion in life, and I hope to inspire people to make their own journey and rediscover that creativity that is at the core of everyone.
