“I made it myself!” That is one of my favorite things to say and has been throughout my life. About four years ago, crafting became even more important to me. After a long struggle with infertility, we adopted a beautiful baby boy. Things started getting a little rough and just after our second adoption (a little girl) we found out that our son has autism. Knitting became my therapy. It was something I could control. It kept my mind and body calm when I needed a break. A few years later it turned into a way that I could make some extra money to help out with therapies and doctor visits. Last year I started raising money for Autism Speaks by having an open house where I showcased some of my items. Through that and some generous donations, I was able to raise over $1000 in one month. My crafting has gone from just being a benefit to me, but to helping others as well and that makes all the difference!
