Here, you’re essentially crocheting two stitches together.

Insert hook into BOTH LOOPS of the stitch from row below (or chain stitch for first row).

Wrap yarn counter-clockwise around hook and draw it through the first loop.

Insert hook into NEXT STITCH, wrap yarn counter-clockwise and draw through both loops.
Wrap yarn once counter-clockwise once more, and draw through both loops again.
