Feeling Bookish
Hey all! Just a quick FYI that I signed on to be part of the Knitty Gritty book which is scheduled to hit shelves this November. I'll be writing the introduction, as well as some of the content, consulting on projects (as well as possibly designing a couple of bonus patterns that haven't been seen on the show), etc. I'm thrilled that this project is finally happening--it should be pretty cool!On a different note, it looks like the story of the Stitch N' Bitch battle has made it's way across the pond. I found this article on a British news website today.
Ok, I have a couch pillow fort to disassemble. Night!

Hey! That woman contacted me too but I never got a chance to talk with her. Oh well. I did get your stickers yesterday though. Thanks mama. I feel like sneaking into the local high school and plastering them on some lockers. I'm so mature for an almost 36 year old aren't I?
So cool about the book! I have to also say that it's really helpful to have the DIY mini video clips from the show online. I've used two of them to show customers in the shop how to do things. Just last weekend this woman came in asking us something that none of us knew. We Googled it and low and behold Knitty Gritty came to the rescue!
Dang this is a ramble. Sorry. See what time it is? 'nuff said. I need some caffeine.
Well it's 5:46 MY time!
VERY exciting!!! I absolutely cannot wait. I love the show so much. I think I had first found about it via a magazine. Then I got pissed because my cable company didn't carry DIY - so I begged my mom to TIVO the show and create tapes for me. But now finally, after hearing my pathetic little prayers, my cable company is carrying the DIY network in my area, and I can view Knitty Gritty in all its digital goodness!
Just a thought on the book, you will hopefully include a "knit-o-meter" for the level of skill required for each project. :)
Another thought...have you ever entertained during a KG show on us minority of left-handed knitters? I struggled at first because there was not a lot of material designed specifically to teach left handed knitters. The "My Knitting Teacher" pamphlet by Susan Bates contains page after page for lefties - but lots of knitting books and magazines only allude to left handed techniques. I had to teach myself and think I've done a fair job (after hours upon hours of swearing and tearing my hair out!). Just thought a show on us - maybe with a lefty instructor - would be kind of neat. :)
Knit on, Vickie!!!! All the best, Theresa
Your eye on the knit culture is as fresh as ever. I'm sure the Knitty Gritty book will be a huge hit. -Pam (pillow forts with blanket roofs rule the roost with 5 year olds, don't they!)
Oh yay, a KG book will be good, good, good!!!!!!!!!!
I think this Stitch 'n Bitch thing is just so dumb--I bitch during any activity I perform; obviously, it is inevitable that folks will bitch (especially my friends) whenever they gather--stitching and bitching are just part of life. The folks need to just "get over it already."
CONGRATULATIONS Vickie! It will be so fabulous and I will be looking forward to it!! By then I will have gone through all the projects in your NKOTB book!!
Keep um coming girl!!!
Oh a Knitty Gritty book! I can't wait! That will definitely be a must have NOW!
:)
Congrats on the book. I will look for it in November and add it to my library :)
