Thread-tastic!
After my friend Jennifer started writing love letters to her newly coifed brows, I decided that I too would put the wax on hold in favor of Threading. In case you haven't heard of it, it's a way of tweezing hair using cotton thread--it's basically a non-mechanical version of using an Epilady, so a bunch of one's wee eyebrow hairs are being pulled out at the root all at once. I must say, my brows do look pretty damn good but sweet Aphrodite, goddess of beauty--man, did it hurt! Seriously, it was almost as bad as getting a tattoo. Seriously.I forgot to add to my "Busted" list yesterday that the "contact me" form on my website wasn't working properly. All that I was being sent were comments without the sender's name or e-mail address. That said, if you e-mailed me and I didn't respond, that's why. It's all fixed now so please re-send, especially if you were needing something. My web gal friday, blames it on all the crack she's been smoking but I think it was just some weird technological glitch. Note: Jenny is not actually smoking crack or any other drug for that matter. She's a mom and an upstanding citizen. Thank you.
On Saturday I went to the midwinter ALA convention for a signing. It was actually one of the best signings I've done so far. Those librarians really loves them the books. Who knew? ;-) When I got there, there were people already lined up--it made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Below is the Sterling Publishing team, sporting some of the projects from the book. None of them seemed to mind that the stuff was all sized for the under 7-year-old set.

I've had a crazy productive day that started at 6am, so I'm starting to fade. Night, lovies.
xx,
Trixster
(I keep trying to get this nickname to catch on, but nobody's buying it.)
P.S. I haven't figured out how to respond to comments individually so until I do I'll have to do one mass response. Thanks for your patience with my suckage.

you know you i was right, you love them threaded eyebrows don't you. So it hurt and I forgot to tell you that part, but you will never go back to waxing - admit it. Find a sitter for tomorrow, you need to be at my house.
Hi Vickie!
New to post! I just have a few questions...
When will there be new episodes of Knitty Gritty?
Will you be in the New England area any time soon?
How about Vixster? :)
I think the reason your self named nickname has not caught is your forcing it.
Nicknames are a time honored blessing bestowed upon you by others. The nickname could come from a single person or a group yet it only sticks because a jury of others who know you say..."yea, that fit's" in their collective minds.
Thus all begin to refer to you by your nickname.
By signing your posts "trixster" is a cheap way of making "trixster" your nickname. Sure...people will begin to answer your posts writing "Dear Trixster" but will it really be a true nickname?
I say post on your blog a vote for your nickname!
Dave,
LOL, I was totally kidding about the nickname thing. Signing my name that way was my feeble attempt at comedy. ;-)
Heather,
It's up for debate when new KGs will air. They have 39 new episodes awaiting air dates but are talking about holding them until the fall when the Network starts getting ratings. I'm REALLY hoping that they change their minds because a.) that would mean almost a full year of re-runs and b.) If they don't, then I won't have that job this year. Maybe if people e-mail the network to tell them that there is the desire to have a ton more new episodes of the show air asap, then they'll reconsider. I'll see if I can find the right e-mail address, if people are interested in contacting DIY. Thanks for the interest! --Vickie
Being a stylist "threading" is just way too cool if you ask me...now I just have to learn how to do it...but I guess if I can master all the different cast on types I can learn threading.
Love the new blog!
Trixster
I was having fun with ya. Didn't think you were serious. Hope you didn't think I was either. My feeble attempt at humor as well.
Hope your well
Dave

Thanks for moving your blog talk here. I only opened a Myspace account so I could read your posts and comment. I was getting some creepy messages from people and now that you are moved, I deleted that account. Glad you had a good signing.
:)
Trixster, errr Vickie, threading is only for people with a high tolerance for pain, I say, let em grow crazy man, life is short your brows shouldn't be.
Ouch!!!
BTW, I like "chick with sticks"
Vixter,
Thanks for the update on KG, I will definitely write to DIY if you get that email address. (Or I could send them one via their website if you can't.) Also, what is this Uncommon Threads show? I've seen a little buzz on the internet about it, but not any details.
Hi, Vickie.
I received your book for Xmas and was ALL SET to buy up all the yarn I needed from Crystal Palace for the chain mail (I have a 7-yr-old boy who LOVES knights) when... my LYS tells me it's discontinued. Do you have ideas for alternates? Or, even better, is there a place on your web site where folks like me trade ideas about such issues? (I've poked around some, but can't find anything like that...) I will also need to do some brainstorming on adjusting the size--he's tall, and probably bigger than the pattern is written for.
I really like the book and I'm looking forward to knitting something from it.
Yours ever,
Karen from Ohio
P.S. I'd leave you my e-mail addr, but don't know if that will come through securely (?). So I guess I'll check back in the comments?
P.P.S. Please tell Lisa Loeb I'm her biggest fan. :)
Hi Vickie. I've been watching Knitty Gritty ever since I became obsessed with the boots that Tina Marrin did.
I know you are EXTREMELY busy, but I do a podcast and I was wondering if you would be willing/crazy enough/gullible enough to contact me about maybe doing an interview? I'd even be willing to call you Trixter, maybe.
whit AT about-time DOT us
Thanks!!!!
KAREN: Hi there! Thanks for the inquiry. I don’t think that Soiree has been discontinued, but you’d be able to find out for sure over at www.straw.com . If it turns out that it is, I think I have a bag of it left over that I can send to you. Le me know.
DAVE: I was kidding right back atcha. ;-)
WHIT: I'll listen to your podcast as soon as I can and get back to you. I just got back from a convention in Vegas and need to catch up, so give me a couple of days. Thanks for thinking of me!
xo, Vickie
Librarians do love books - I am one ;) Sorry to miss the Midwinter Conf. this year. Looks like FUN.
Nice to see you blogging over here now. It looks great!
Hi again, Vickie.
Thanks for the offer! It is indeed discontinued, but my LYS managed to get one of the last bags. Which I promptly bought ALL of. (It was on sale, so I couldn't help myself, apparently.) I also bought the Lamb's Pride I'll need to make the guitar, which Dexter also wants one of. His will be blue & green; I'll send a pic when it's done! (If I can figure out how to do that...)
Thanks for your inspiring work. And congratulations on your new projects!
Cheers,
Karen (in Ohio, where it snowed yesterday)
